The UK indie music scene has grown rapidly in the past few years, with labels and artists signing new acts to their albums and festivals.
The scene has also seen the emergence of artists from the likes of SZA, Skrillex and more.
With that in mind, we spoke to three of the scene’s top UK indie bands to find out how to get involved.
Aimee Mann The band formed in 2016, when Mann, a former member of Miley Cyrus’ band The Miseducation of Cameron Post, went on tour to promote her new album.
The band has since gone on to release a number of songs and have played a number shows across the UK.
With the band’s new album coming out in January, we caught up with Mann to find the secrets to being one of the UK’s best indie bands.
Tritonal Aimeel Shah is the second female singer from the UK to join Tritonic, following on from the group’s previous leader and songwriter, Sarah McManus.
She was previously a member of The Bricks, a trio who released a range of albums between 2012 and 2017.
Tripton has recently released a string of singles and a number singles.
The label also released their third album, The Last Days of The Future, on September 28, 2017.
The album’s title track, which also features Sarah Mcmanus, features the line “I’m not the one who wears the uniform, I’m just the one with the mask.”
SZA With the release of her debut album, SZA is set to be one of indie music’s biggest bands.
The singer has released three albums to date, with the latest, A Moment of Truth, hitting shelves this week.
In 2017, Sza released her debut EP, Lyrics for A Moment, and in 2018 she released her sophomore album, Love Me Right.
Her latest single, “Mortal,” is a catchy pop tune that has been used by artists including Lady Gaga and Rihanna.
Skrilax Aimeele Mann is one of Skriltex’s main vocalists, and a member for several years.
Mann is best known for her hits with Lady Gaga, and her vocals are also featured in the likes the likes Of Monsters and Men.
Skillex also has his own solo project, which he released last year, with his latest single “Suck it Up.”
DJ Khaled Aimeela Mann is also a member, along with fellow UK singer and MC Khaled, of the popular DJ Khaleesi.
In 2016, the two artists collaborated on a number songs.
Khaled has been nominated for two Grammys and was recently voted Best New Artist at the 2017 Grammys.
Mann has also performed on the hit TV show The Apprentice.
Skream The British rapper was recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and recently made headlines for being arrested in Dubai for alleged drug possession.
Skrlax is also known for his music, which has been featured on tracks like The Party and the hit single “Hotline Bling.”
The Bumps The British band, formed in 2009, released three studio albums in 2016 and 2017 and is currently on tour.
They recently released their fourth album, Triptonic, on October 8, 2017, and are also touring Europe this year.
Skepta In 2018, Skepta released his debut album and in 2019, he released a full-length EP.
In 2018 alone, Skeptics had recorded 12 songs.
He has also recently collaborated with other artists, including Drake, Kanye West and Justin Bieber.
Sia With the arrival of her fifth studio album, A Good Day to Die Young, Sia has released four singles in the UK, including “No Good” and “The Way You Used To Do.”
Nicki Minaj Aimeeli Mann is a rising talent in the music industry and her music is currently featured on hits by Lady Gaga as well as Drake, Lil Wayne, Drake and Future.
Sam Hunt In 2018 Sam Hunt released his first solo album and hit the Billboard Top 40 charts with his single “Lose Yourself.”
He is also currently touring and performing.
The xx In 2018 The xx released their first single “Trap Queen.”
Zedd The British singer is also making waves in the indie music world.
Zeady is currently touring with a number tracks including “Tiny” and the “Bad Girls” single.
Loyle Carner-Leal is one half of the band Loyle Calmer.
The duo is currently recording the upcoming album, Fade To Grey, and have released their second album, Mutation, in January.
The Weeknd The British DJ and singer recently collaborated on two singles, “Dance To The Music” and a collaboration with Drake on “Don’t Think About Me.”
